About

Friends Of Rescue Animals is exactly who we are.  Through our fostering programs, we provide care, comfort and compassion to animals in need — while engaging the hearts, hands and minds of our community to bring about an end to the killing of abandoned and orphaned shelter animals.

FOR Animals Mission Statement

Friends of Rescue Animals (FOR Animals) was conceived when motivated and like-minded volunteers of a local adoption group realized that they could make the lives of rescued dogs and cats better, even before they found a forever home.  Because all animals do better, both mentally and physically, in a home setting versus a shelter, the decision was made to make FOR Animals a 100% foster-based organization.  We have several generous, loving foster pet parents who open their homes to the homeless pets who find their way to us.

But this doesn’t mean that FOR Animals has no overhead expenses to cover.  Before they can be adopted, each animal must be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.  FOR Animals provides all food, bowls, bedding, litter, litter boxes, leashes, harnesses, and medication for the animals in foster care.  And, unexpected health emergencies can also arise.  Such was the case with a two-month-old kitten that was rushed to the Animal Emergency Clinic after suffering from a seizure and a dog that needed immediate surgery after being diagnosed with Pyometra.  We do not turn our backs on these animals despite the cost – we do everything we can to save each and every one.  We continue to hold small fundraisers on social media, and raise funds through community events as well.  However, donations are always welcome and very much appreciated.
